How to reach CIEMAT

General CIEMAT instructions (obsolete)

From the Hotel (Tryp Menfis)

Tryp Menfis hotel is located very close to "Plaza de España" underground station. Our advice is to take a metro line from there, and then a bus. The full journey should take no more than 30 minutes. A taxi to CIEMAT would cost around 10-15 EUR, but traffic jams in that area are frequent so we discourage this option.

The prices for the metro & bus tickets are 1 EUR for a single ride, 7.60 EUR for a 10-travel ticket ("Metrobus"). Transfers between metro and bus are not allowed, so you will need 2 tickets to reach CIEMAT. 10-ticket "Metrobus" can not be bought in the bus, only in metro stations.

From "Plaza de España" station take metro line 3 (yellow) towards "Moncloa", up to the line end. Go outside the station through the exit "Cuartel General del Aire / Princesa". Right outside the metro exit you will see the bus stops (see picture below):

MONCLOA

Take bus line 82 from the bus stop code 3688. Step off the bus at the 11th stop (be careful, the driver might skip some of them if no stop request is called). See picture below for details on the CIEMAT bus stop:

CIEMAT

At CIEMAT: Once there, proceed to the guardian lodge and identify yourself, mentioning you are attending the ILC meeting. If you are registered for the meeting, they will have your data and will show you the way to the conference venue. Signals will be attached in several points to guide you. A card will be issued at the entrance, it will be valid for both days.

The meeting will take place in Conference Room B (2nd floor) of building 1 (see map)

From the airport

Best way to reach CIEMAT from the airport is by taxi. A ride costs 25-30 EUR and it takes about 25 minutes. You might have to tell the taxi driver the full address (Avenida Complutense 22, in Ciudad Universitaria).

Public transportation is available, but it involves 2 metro lines and a bus, taking at least 45 minutes to reach CIEMAT. At the airport take metro line 8 towards "Nuevos Ministerios". Change to line 6 in "Nuevos Ministerios" heading to "Ciudad Universitaria". Line 6 ("Circular") is a cycle, be sure to take the trains in the right sense (counter-clockwise). See above for tickets and fee recomendations.

Once at "Ciudad Universitaria", go outside the station and take bus 82 heading up north (bus stop right outside the metro exit, bus stop code 1687). Step off the bus at the 5th stop (be careful, the driver might skip some of them if no stop request is called). See above for details on the CIEMAT bus stop and how to proceed from here.

From the train station (Atocha)

Take the metro line 1 (light blue), direction "Pinar de Chamartin". In "Sol" station change to line 3 (yellow) towards "Moncloa", until the end of line. Go outside the station through the exit "Cuartel General del Aire / Princesa". See above for instructions from here.
